AEC Delivers High-Quality Mechanical Works for Piripaua Penstock Refurbishment Programme

Ashhurst Engineering & Construction (AEC) is proud to have played a critical role in supporting the recent Piripaua Penstock Refurbishment Programme for Genesis Energy. Engaged to complete all the mechanical work required to enable the penstock’s internal lining application, AEC successfully delivered a range of complex tasks to ensure the project’s success.

Our scope of work included the removal of the main inlet valve, the replacement of the penstock protection system, welding repairs, and the replacement of the penstock service water take-off stub. These tasks were executed with precision and a strong commitment to quality standards.

Welding work, in particular, presented some unique challenges however, the collaboration and open communication between AEC and Genesis Energy were pivotal in overcoming these hurdles. Together, we worked closely to identify solutions and implement them effectively, ensuring all works met rigorous quality requirements.

The completion of this project underscores AEC’s ability to navigate technical complexities while maintaining high standards of safety and craftsmanship. We are proud to have contributed to the ongoing reliability and efficiency of New Zealand’s critical hydroelectric infrastructure.
